【Information】
International students arriving in Taiwan often face the challenge of cultural shock, which encompasses feelings of confusion, anxiety, and other emotions when transitioning from their home culture to a new cultural environment with different values, lifestyles, language barriers, and more.
This workshop aims to assist CCU international students in navigating the challenges of cross-cultural adaptation and finding coping strategies for cultural shock. Participants will gain an initial understanding of cross-cultural adaptation theories through brief lectures by the facilitator. Subsequently, they will engage in reflective activities to examine their own experiences of cultural shock and adaptation. Through self-reflection, feedback from peers, and mutual support, participants will explore how their strengths can help them integrate experiences from their home country with those in Taiwan. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to share and relate to each other's experiences of cultural shock during group discussions, which can alleviate feelings of isolation and provide a healing effect through a sense of commonality.
Overall, this workshop aims to facilitate participants in reflecting on their cross-cultural adaptation process, obtaining emotional support and a sense of commonality through group discussions, and acquiring strategies and strengths to navigate through the cross-cultural adaptation journey.
